The SOC Academy Courses are being revised following staffing adjustments. Once a COO of SOC is posted, and the Deanship is reassigned, the SOC courses will be reopened.

17 SEP 2008 - SOC Chief of Operations (COO-SOC-MFI)

Greetings:

As you hopefully are aware, Marc Easterly has left the position of Deputy Director of SOC... something about becoming commandant somewhere, lol. Replacing him, via the chain-of-command, is COMO Yazdir. I congratulate them both.

This leaves us with a hole on our staff, that of Chief of Operations. SOC needs someone with imagination, initiative, and time on their hands to put in for this. Also required for the position are good communications skills and the ability to work in a team atmosphere. Some management and record-keeping skills will be required as well, but we can go into that later.

Imagination: Create and execute missions for the membership, including public ones for the SOC list.

Initiative: Can work without the need for someone to be looking over your shoulder constantly, making sure you are doing your job.

Time on your hands: The SOC staff positions can be somewhat labor intensive, as well as time intensive. Staff meeting schedules are irregular, but may happen as often as 3 - 4 times a week, or as seldom as once a month.

Good communications skills: The ability to communicate in emails, IMs, and through other means in a clear, concise manner. Use of punctuation, diction, and grammar is necessary to promote SOC's professionalism in MFI and general fandom communities.

Ability to work in a team atmosphere: ODT, the SOC Command Staff, is a team organization... no one (or few, anyway) rules by fiat. We expect that SOC staff officers will communicate with each other, seek advice as needed, and at the very least give a heads up on what they are up to (so there aren't any untoward "surprises" down the pike).

Interested personnel who match these qualifications should send their fandom and real life resumes to ^^^ and prepare themselves for the standard issue "in-depth" SOC interview. ;)
