Greetings, one and all,

Since my surgery is in two days, I decided that I better get this newsletter out a week early just in case I am in too much pain to do it later. It has been a hectic time of year and I've been extremely busy. Here we are go with another exciting report of the activities of the crew of the ICV Heghnach. I have been very busy and Ship activities have been very busy for us all.

Maquis Update - Klingon Task Force

The Klingon Task Force website can be seen at http://wiki.maquis.com/w/KTF and the ICV Heghnach website can be seen at http://wiki.maquis.com/w/ICV_Heghnach . With the IC Election Campaign going on, I have been extremely busy. For those that do not know, I am running for the position of International Coordinator in the Maquis Forces International. The election campaign has been extremely challenging and rewarding. Since this has been my first opportunity to participate in a campaign of this nature, I think I faired very well. I may not win, but the trying was well worth the effort. For more details about the election, go to http://wiki.maquis.com/w/Election_2006.

Maquis Gras 2007

The theme for Maquis Gras 2007 is Pirates and the date October 5-7th. More info to follow. Keep checking http://www.mavfiresword.com/ for details.

Imperial Klingon Army - I had been assigned as Cyber Division Commander and I had been starting to make contact with those units. Since the Campaign Phase of the MFI Election has required even more time than the Nomination Phase, I have paid even less attention to this. My priority has been the MFI since the campaign started.

IKEF affiliates - I have tried to get the Battle Group Pennsylvania duty of growing the group from one ship to many, but no sucess so far. It's a really big challenge and now I am not 100% sure that I can handle it. Anybody with information about Klingon ships in PA that might want to affiliate with IKEF, please contact me. Since the Campaign Phase of the MFI Election has required even more time than the Nomination Phase, I have paid even less attention to this. My priority has been the MFI since the campaign started.

IKF affiliates - Nothing new to report at this time.

Klingon / STARFLEET Joint Operations Update - The crew will have their meeting/Christmas Party at the XO's place on Sunday, December 17th. We will discuss the upcoming events and recap recent events. Minutes will be posted by either the Chief of Operations or the Intelligence Officer shortly thereafter. After my surgery, I will probably be recouperating until after New Year's Day. Hopefully, I will be pain free for my birthday on New Year's Day.

See http://www.angelfire.com/trek/ussinferno/Activities.html for more details/photos of all our activities. At the Toy Show, only two STARFLEET Ships participated. Everyone had a good time, especially our newly promoted Chief of Operations, FCPT Ksimka sutai-Ki'RK (Debbie French), because it was her birthday on Saturday. She was treated to dinner and gifts and had her Distinction on Flag Officer School certificate presented. She was promoted not only by the ship Command Staff and crew, but also by Dirk Benedict. You can all of the details by going to http://www.angelfire.com/trek/ussinferno/Activities.html and clicking on the "Toy Show Dec 2006" link. At the same time, the XO recommended that all crewmembers of STARFLEET International at least take Officer Training School. There is a Fully Automated Online OTS Course at http://academy.sfi.org/index.php to speed your course along. The CO and XO both recommended and encouraged that all crewmembers take more than just OTS. The Pittsburgh Toy Show on December 2-3rd featured Verne Troyer ("Mini-Me" from the Austin Powers movies), Dirk Benedict ("Starbuck" from the original Battlstar Galactica and "Face" from the A-Team), Cindy Morgan ("Lacey Underall" from Caddyshack and "Yori" from TRON), Bruno Sammartino (Wrestling Legend), and many, many, more wrestlers and graphics artists. Our next participation for the Pittsburgh Toy Show will be March 24-25, 2007. The show will feature Robert Picardo ("The Doctor" from Star Trek Voyager), Kurt Angle and Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka (Wrestling Legends), and many, many, more artists. We will set up Friday before the event. We will work from 7am-6pm Saturday and 9am-4pm Sunday. We will be staying Friday and Saturday at the Radisson Hotel, compliments of the Toy Show. See http://www.pittsburghtoyshow.com for more details.

Plans were scrubbed for putting in a bid for the 2007 Region 7 Conference. We hope to put in a bid for either hold the actual 2008 R7 Conference or a 2008 Western Frontier Conference. Details to follow. With the deadline being pushed up, we felt we didn't have enough time to put in a high quality bid, so it was decided we would start now for 2008. We need to get going on this. The bid will be due soon and we need to be ready. The crews of the USS Dragon's Fury and USS Glory will be hosting the Region 1 Summit. We were asked to participate and in turn, they will train us on how to run a Region Conference. The particulars are as follows: Region 1 Summit: April 20-23, 2007 Richmond, VA $25 per adult member until 1/31/07. Banquet $30. http://r1summit007.teamcmx23.org/index2.html

Charity/Community Service Update

Our volunteer efforts have always been strong. Individual totals range from 4-24 hours at each event which combine to make a ship total of several hundred hours of volunteer time. I would say that an extreme rough estimate of our ship total is around 200-300 hours per year.

POP TAB CHALLENGE (I STILL WANT THESE TABS!)

I do not know if the House Ki’RK is still collecting the tabs for the challenge or not. Since the other Quadrant Commanders attended this year’s Beach Bash, I don’t know the status of the challenge. The ICV Heghnach donated seven pounds at this year’s Beach Bash. I know several members do not wish to collect anymore, but I am not stopping. Let's not stop there! Let's get started now collecting. I would like to see each Heghnach member give me as many tabs as they can collect between now and Beach Bash 2008. I, as Commander of the ICV Heghnach, ask that if you are not collecting these pop tabs, please start. Send them to the XO or I so that we can turn them into the Empire Quadrant Commander on behalf of this crew, so that we can increase this fundraising effort. If we spread the word that we are doing this, we could easily increase the amount that the House Ki'RK raises. I would like to see the ICV Heghnach double it's collection by next year. I want all tabs turned into the Command Staff before we go to Beach Bash so that we can give them to K'Hergh. I would like to be able to bring at least two or three gallons to him at Beach Bash, so get out there and start collecting those tabs!

According to the Ronald McDonald House, "one pound of pop tabs is worth $.04 more than one pound of pop cans. Depending on the present value of aluminum, the value from pop tabs averages 50 cents to 55 cents per pound. There are approximately 1,300 tabs in a pound. The Ronald McDonald House currently raises $500 a month from the recycling of pop tabs. This amount could easily double or triple if everyone who reads this article starts to recycle." http://www.rmhc.com/kids/poptab_collection/
