Zone Awards

The following Members have distinguished themselves at the Zone level.

Zone 1

  • Rebel Of the Year: None Nominated
  • Volunteer of The Year: FCOL Anne Zecca of MFS Amon-Ra

Write Up:

The following is a recap of the community service activities done by FCOL Anne Zecca, CO of the MFS Amon-Ra, in 2010:

She donated platelets at LifeSouth Community Blood Centers (Gainesville, FL) on 1/17/10, 2/12/10, 4/7/10.

She participated in the March of Dimes March for Babies on 3/27/10 in Gainesville (FL), raising $100 for the cause.

She assisted at the first ever Gainesville (FL) Fisher House Celebrity Golf Classic, held 5/24/10 at the Gainesville Golf & Country Club.  The event raised funds to help build a Fisher House for families of military veterans getting care at the Gainesville VA Medical Center.  She helped in keeping an eye on the breakfast trays, lunch buffet & beverage table (beer, wine, soda); making sure they were well supplied.

She assisted with the American Heart Association Heart Walk held on 9/18/10, at the North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, FL.  She supervised a group of college students who were distributing healthy snacks such as fruit, bottled water & granola bars to participants.

She helped with the American Cancer Society's Making Strides against Breast Cancer held on 10/23/10, in downtown Gainesville, FL.  She assisted with an area where breast cancer survivors received t-shirts, goodie bags and snacks.

She assisted with the Veterans Day program held on 11/11/10, at the Alachua County Veterans' Memorial in Gainesville, FL.  She helped a local veterans' group hand out rulers, pencils and children's coloring books.

She also assisted with the All American Liberty Fest held on 11/14/10, at Santa Fe College, Gainesville, FL.  She worked with a local veterans' group by handing out children's coloring books.

FCOL Zecca also supported veterans' causes in 2010 by attending meetings of the following organizations:

Ladies Auxiliary VFW (LAVFW) American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) Marine Corps League (MCL) Ladies Auxiliary Military Order of the Purple Heart (LAMOPH)

To that end, she holds the following offices: Unit President - LAVFW, LAMOPH Unit Historian - ALA Detachment Librarian (appointed staff) - MCL District Chaplain - LAVFW District Public Relations Chair - ALA Department Jr. Vice President - LAMOPH (FL)

She also served as Department President of the LAMOPH during 2010.

Her involvement in veterans' affairs stems from her late father, a US Army veteran of WWII, who was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge and received the Purple Heart.

If you feel that the above members and/or their cell are worthy of consideration for any other MFI Awards, please do.

In the past 3 years Bill has also given a great deal of time and energy in re-opening of the Engineering college of the MFI academy. Ball has also been very active in the MFMC Mekk program. Mekk is an avenue for Battletech and Mechwarrior enthusiasts to express their fandom in a Trek setting

In the past 4 years Mike has also been instrumental in the development of the MFMC Mekk program, including his assistance with the manual and all three of the exams. Mekk is an avenue for Battletech and Mechwarrior enthusiasts to express their fandom in a Trek setting.
