Notes (downloaded from original computer files):

The Ronin Class is the latest Carrier by Starfleet. It was designed for long term missions along the outer quadrant borders. The mission of the Ronin Class, aside from patrol and exploration is to lend assistance to Federation and allied ships and planets. In many ways the Ronin Class is not only a carrier but also a highly mobile space station. Since a tour of the outer borders may require years, the Ronin is self-contained to handle any situation that arises.

Aside from the fighters and assault craft it carries, the Ronin is the first carrier designed to be capable of separating out and rejoining the Primary and Secondary Hulls, much like the Galaxy Class Starships. Both hulls are capable of independent warp flight of up to warp 8. The Primary Hull's entire outer layer of decks, 20 through 30, consist of an integrated Bussard Scoop and warp nacelle, based on the successful integration design used by the Defiant Class. Each Hull is equipped with two (2) Warp Core Power reactors one of which running at 75% capacity can handle all the ship's requirements for residential and system loads under non-combat conditions.

One reactor in one hull will normally be running hot with another in the other hull kept in hot stand-by. Upon battle, if not separating, the stand-by core will come on line and both remaining cores will be brought up to hot-stand-by. Prior to separation the same conditions will be met, whether in battle or not,. Each core is capable of supplying its hull with battle readiness power levels at 75% capability. If needed, all four cores can be brought up to 100% capacity to allow the ship to achieve a maximum speed of Warp 9. However, this can only be maintained for 12 hours before the strain begins to endanger the IDF and SIF generators. The operating and hot stand-by cores are rotated on a periodic basis.

The secondary hull boosts 4 nacelles. The dorsal nacelles are warp nacelles, of the latest Starfleet design. The ventral nacelles house the fighter ship compliment. 200 Peregrine class fighters, 100 in each nacelle, are allotted for each Ronin Class Carrier, housed on the ventral side of the nacelles. At all times half of the assigned fighters are kept in a ready mode, while the remaining fighters undergo repairs, maintenance or storage. Fighters, with their pilots and gunmen, are rotated out on a regular basis. The fighters are “dropped? out of the bottom of the nacelles and pushed away with a low-level tractor beam. In emergency situations this tractor beam can also be used to pull ships in, but it is a risky maneuver and would only occur in extreme emergencies. Normal re-docking with the ship is through landing strips along the ventral center of the nacelles. The fighters would normally be coming in fast and are slowed down by pulse tractor beams set along the outer and (relative) upper bulkheads. The dorsal side of the launch nacelles house up to 50 ships, Defiant class or smaller, 25 per nacelle. These ships launch directly out from the side of the nacelle and are redocked the same as the fighters with the exception that they doesn't require the use of the pulse tractor beams. Pulse tractors beams are installed on the dorsal side of the center anyway to be used in emergencies.

The Ronin Class also has the capability of docking up to seven ships on the dorsal side of its secondary hull. 2 of these docks are specifically designed for two Defiant Class ships that are to be permanently assigned as part of that carriers battle group. There is also a dock for an Intrepid Class ship, also permanently assigned to the battle group. Three additional docks can accommodate ships up to Intrepid Class size. All Defiant Class and Intrepid Class ships are being retrofitted with an airlock on the underside to accommodate use in these docks. Each landing pad is equipped with a retractable turbolift/umbilical tube at each docking point

Each hull has a total of 5 shuttle bay, with an extra large one at the aft most part of the Secondary Hull. Two in each hull are of sufficient size to house and launch Danube Class runabouts

The Ronin has a total of four bridges. The Main/Primary Bridge, the Primary Battle Bridge, the Secondary Bridge, and the Fleet Bridge. All four are located deep within the cores of the hulls for maximum safety. The Main/Primary Bridge is on deck 8, aft centerline of the Primary Hull, in the command module (see below). This serves as the Bridge for the entire ship when joined and the Primary Hull's bridge when separated. The Primary Battle Bridge is located on deck 40, forward centerline, and is only used if the escape ship is launched. The Secondary Bridge is located on deck 82, aft Centerline and serves as the Bridge for the Secondary Hull when separated. The Fleet Bridge is located on Deck 50, forward centerline. This bridge is used by any Fleet Captain or Admiralty, onboard for coordination of fleet efforts. The Fleet Bridge is actually a holosuite. When activated, the room takes on the appearance of being in outer space. The room can change positions based on sensors readings, allowing the OIC to receive real time input on what is happening with the fleet from almost any angle. Data grids and info screen can be brought up upon command. Five highly experienced Operations officers are stationed on the bridged when manned. They coordinate and communicate with the fleet based on the events and the OIC's orders.

Within the Primary Hull is an escape ship taking up entirely or parts of decks 1 through 15. This ship is for last minute escapes when it is vital for information and personnel to get back to safer space and Starfleet HQ. It has its own engine room whose warp core is constantly in hot stand by. This core is never used except when the ship launches. All vital persons are beamed aboard prior to launch and directive explosive charges launch the ship away from the Ronin class carrier. If the main part of the Carrier survives the escape module can be replaced but requires a spacedock, or if necessary, by the ship's crew but at twice the time and effort to replace it.

The entire outer hull of the Ronin is covered with Ablative Armor. Set beneath the ship's hull, under the Armor and a double layer of hull, are low level dedicated replicators, attached to a sensor net. When the ablative armor has been blasted free, the replicator creates a new layer to replace it. Each replicator covers a 102 meter area. This experimental passive defensive system was based on Capt. Sisko's self replicating minefield that he had placed in front of the wormhole during the Alpha/Gamma War.

The ship is equipped with new hybrid shield generators utilizing both Multilayering and regenerative technology. The combined generators are still relatively experimental in nature and standard back up shield generators are in place. A secondary set of generators are installed along side the others for metaphasic shields. These shields cannot be used in conjunction with the standard or the multilayered regenerative shields. Only one set can be used at a time, but the switchover time is under 450 nanoseconds, since the oncoming set will build off of and modify what the off going set had already created.

Weaponry on board the Ronin Class is extensive. Various types of phasers cover her hulls. Quantum torpedo launchers are in each quadrant of each hull allowing for launch in all 6 axis vectors. In addition Microtorpedo launchers are also installed at strategic locations for starburst missile effects. Facilities on board the Primary Hull allow for the manufacture of Quantum torpedoes and torpedoes are stored in both hulls.

400 Workbee EVC's are housed in various places throughout the ship. These help engineering crews with repairs to the carrier and other ships the carrier encounters needing hull repairs.

4 Separate EMH programs are installed on the ship, two assigned to each hull. All four programs have been given different images and personalities. Each EMH has its own dedicated mini computer core and back up to ensure reliability. These cores are completely separate from each other and the remainder of the ship's systems. Slaved to and for the dedicated use of the EMH's are holoemitters in every room on every deck. This allows the EMH's to respond to any emergency at any location. Communications with the EMH's when not activated is through normal ship's communication circuits which are then run through an isolation buffer and then inputted to the EMH. The EMH's while isolated to their assigned hulls can meet face to face with each other, and the other crew members, in a special dedicated holoroom built into the primary/secondary neck. The programs can control their active and inactive modes and even have a processing mode which maintains the program running but not the holoemitters. To the EMH's point of view, he/she is moved to a virtual reality room for study, thought or whatever else he/she might want or need to do that does not require a body in the physical world.

Naturally, with a ship this large, covering the length and breadth of it would take some time even in standard turbolifts. The Ronin has been fitted with advanced versions that are 2.5 times faster. Each car has installed its own mini-IDF generator. While movement is more perceptible than the standard Turbolifts, one may travel safely and quickly. For longer distances Point-to-Point Transporters have been located in key and strategic point throughout the ship. These individual pads are a dedicated system and are completely separate from the Transporter system. They could be used to get a quicker lock on a person but starting from a transporter room is recommended. In place of Annular Confinement Beams, which could disrupt some sensitive science equipment, these PTP pads are connected by hard-wired wave-guides.

Despite the fact that the Ronin is a ship designed for battle, the sheer size of it makes it natural to allow families onboard. However, unlike the Galaxy Class, where small children and a civilian community existed, all Family members and civilian personnel on board the Ronin are screened and sent through a training program. No children under the age of 16 Terran Standard, or the equivalent, dependent on the races particular life cycle, are allowed on board on a regular basis. Since the Ronin might be called upon to perform evacuations and other civilian transport duties with long term holding of the passengers always a possibility, facilities for the young are included. Among these are schools, rec decks, and others. Those civilians on board receive training and drill alongside the crew, and are ready to lay down their life just as the crew would if the situation required it. Special programs exist in the ships holodecks to allow an individual to receive Academy training if the ship would not be returning to the more central parts of the Federation for a while. There is still discussion among detailers and the admiralty as to whether or not to allow younger children to remain on a regular basis if the current political situation permits it.

Maquis added notes on refit and other things (as entered by Capt 1 of 5):

The origin or this ship is indeed a mysterious one. It seems to come from a different universe than ours, one not yet known, at least except to a few special departments in our universe’s Starfleet. In their universe, the Federation never went to war with the Klingons, Romulans, or Cardassians. All three races here saw the Federation as a powerful entity, allied themselves to it, and then latter merged with it. Consequently, expansion occurred at an excessive rate. The Federation controls almost the entire Alpha quadrant and a large portion of the Beta quadrant. This ship was the prototype of its class, the Ronin itself. Having been in service only 5 years, the Ronin arrived at its designated patrol sector along the Beta/Delta border. It was there, surveying new planets for colonization, that they first met the Borg. The Ronin's battle group fought a gallant battle, but ultimately they started to lose. What caused the dimensional rift is unknown, as the rift seemed to interfere with the ships sensors. Regardless of its cause, the rift sent the Ronin to our galaxy. It closed shortly after the Ronin came through. The rift seemed to be spatial as well as dimensional in nature, as the Ronin was now directly rimward of our Federation. There it encountered one of Starfleet's Black Ops ships. Section 31 hid the Ronin among the planets of a solitary dead star, far removed from most of the Federation. Repairs were instigated as plans were made on how to use the Ronin to the best advantage. The remaining crew, still hoping that they may one day return home, but prudent enough to realize they may be stuck here, began to study our universe. The more they discovered about recent events the more they realized that this Federation, while similar to their own was still different. Much of the surviving crew realized that the Maquis were closer to their ideals. Secret overtures were made and the Cell that had taken the USS Trinity, a galaxy class starship, , began negotiations. We looked for an opportunity to steal the ship, but with such a size as it had, it seemed impossible. During an armament run a serious battle between the Trinity and several Federation ships occurred. Two-thirds of the Trinity’s crew were lost that day. The Ronin's crew then offered to slip us aboard their ship until we had enough to man it and take it. We gathered up an additional five cells to aid us. After many months of slipping aboard and preparing, several Maquis Raiders descended on the Ronin. While the Feddies were unprepared for us, they certainly mobilized fast. However they only left a few of their own on the Ronin. We moved into action and took control of the carrier, disabling the guard ships and escaping with our prize. Sabotage by the original crew certainly helped.

We've made many changes to the Ronin since we acquired her. First and foremost is that her new name is the Maquis Force Ship Trinity NCC-74653 (we re-named our old ship Triad). We have managed to steal several Cloaking devices, some Romulan, some Starfleet (Classified no less, go figure) as well as a couple unofficially donated by Klingon supporters. In addition a new form of cloaking device has been installed. It's an experimental device we call the Holographic Cloak. First, as with the normal cloak, the holocloak, will bend around the ship all manners of EM waves and sensors. However, once this is accomplished false signals will be sent back to the scanning ships sensors, and a Holograph is projected around the ship turning it into a freighter, or whatever else is selected. The false signals will match the selected holo-image.

There were only a few Shuttlecrafts, fighters, and a couple of runabouts docked on the Ronin when we captured it. Ship's logs show that most were lost on the other side to the Borg. Other Maquis runabouts and fighters have since joined our crew, as well as a company of marines, who brought their own assult dropships. We've retrofitted all the fighters with any of the latest pulse Phaser cannons we managed to get our hands on.

Notes added in by Capt Logan Andrews:

Now FCapt, 1 of 5 has been promoted to Zone Coordinator 2 and I have been given command of the ship. Shortly after assuming command of Trinity, HQ has deemed that I should take over the Special Security Division. I am having all facilities moved onboard including all dropships. A special contingent of agents will be left at HQ to watch over the FAdm.

I’m adding notes in here covering some area I think are needed to understand the structure and running of the ship. The CO is in command of the entire ship and has final call on all things. The XO is the Commanding Officer of the Primary section and the Chief Engineer is the CO of the Secondary Section. Each “under CO? handles affairs with the enlisted and JO’s in their section, with myself being more involved with the Senior Officers. As of right now that is not too much problem as we have so relatively few crew, but we are setting a structure that will continue if we ever truly complete this “war? and get our rightful homes back. If that should come to pass, I plan on taking Trinity and any who would come with us, to explore the uncharted regions of the Beta Quadrant. We’ll do some comparison studies with the original crew’s star charts.
