2007 Proposed Amendments

The following Amendments have been discussed and passed at both the CC and AC levels and we feel they are now ready for you, the General Membership (hereto referred to as the "GM") to read over and vote on.

If you need further explanation or discussion on any of these proposed Amendments, please pose your questions on the Maquis-Members list.

We will be holding the Amendment Vote in the Academy Voting Booth, where we held the IC Elections. Instructions for voting will be posted at the appropriate time.

ARTICLE IV

Council Positions

Synopsis: We feel that having a Seven (7) Member CC is important, but only the Four (4) Key Positions of IC, VIC, COS and the COO positions need to be "Set In Stone". The remaining positions could simply be referred to as "Staff Positions", whose Titles and Job Descriptions would be listed on the MFI-Wiki Council Pages, as well as in the Handbook.

We have currently done away with the Communications position, but will be creating another position in order to keep seven (7) CC Members. Although we don't foresee doing away with the CompOps and Academy positions, Future ICs may not see them as requiring CC status and may re-designate them to Department Status (as an example).

The Proposed Rewording for this section may be found at:

CC Voting: 2/3 Majority Votes

Synopsis: A CC vote needing to be passed by a 3/4 Majority dates back to Pre-AC days when the CC consisted of 12 positions and isn't practical for a Seven Member Council. We would like to change this from 3/4 Majority to 2/3 Majority for CC Votes Only. Anything requiring AC Voting, or GM Voting would still require a 3/4 Majority Vote in order to pass.

The Current Amendment wording may be found at:
Constitution#ARTICLE_IV:_ORGANIZATIONAL_.2F_COMMAND_STRUCTURE

The Proposed Rewording for this section may be found at:

CC "Additional Responsibilities" Additions

Synopsis: Since we don't want to list every little thing that each CC Member would be responsible for in the Constitution... and since these responsibilities MAY change from Administration to Administration, we feel the "Additional" duties only need to be spelled out in the handbook and (perhaps) on the position's web page.

Added verbiage:
"Additional duties/responsibilities may be detailed within the appropriate Handbook section as determined by the CC."
