The Day of Honor is a Klingon holiday. On this day, a warrior evaluates his or her deeds for the past year to see whether he has been honorable. Batlh jaj is a time of celebration and ritual for the Klingon people. It is customary to serve Rokeg blood pie. Enduring the Ritual of Twenty Painsticks is a part of the “festivities.”

This Klingon holiday is a time when the warrior must reflect on their life and judge whether the actions they have taken are honorable or not. The warrior must also respect the honor of both friends and enemies which essentially means everyone, regardless of race, are treated as Klingons. This allows anyone to participate in Suv'batleth.

It is said that a Klingon warrior must make an alliance with a hated enemy during the trial.

The traditional ceremony on the Day of Honor includes eating the heart of a sanctified targ, drinking mot'lach from the Grail of Kahless, enduring the ritual of twenty painstiks, engaging in battle with a bat'leth master, and traversing the sulfur lagoons of Gorath.

One of the most reflective of the Klingon rituals is the annual Day of Honor. For this, a Klingon looks back on his life and examines his behavior to see if it can measure up to that of Kahless. With traditional blood pie served on the day and a targ's heart eaten in a symbolic gesture that brings courage to the participant, the Klingon is also asked by an interrogator if he has come to have his honor challenged. The Klingon is then further questioned and through his answers he comes to the realization of whether or not the previous year has been one he can be proud of. If his worthiness is suspect, he may either be tasked with the Ritual of 20 Painstiks or forced to battle a bat'leth master. Once completed, the Klingon can make start to make amends for his shortcomings or be proud of his worthiness.

In Klingon fandom (Klingdom), this is a day of doing community service or a competition between other organizations.

Klingon ships will host a “Day of Honor” celebration, commemorating the anniversary of the original broadcast of the Star Trek episode “Errand of Mercy.” This is the first episode to feature the Klingon empire, with John Colicos as the first major Klingon, Kor, and Victor Lundin as Kor’s aide.

Although the original broadcast took place on March 23rd, it was decided that the event would be hosted during a convention or community service project where a chapter had a room at the con which could be used for the event. Many friends of the Empire stopped in and paid their respects and toasted the Empire.

Part of the plan is to watch the episode, sit around drinking Blood Wine, and socializing. Hopefully, this is an annual event for the local Klingon fan members.
