Spacial Navigation: Three Dimensional Travel
Navigation.jpg
Believe it or not, All Three of these ships are traveling on an Absolute Heading of 030.0

Navigation1.jpg

  • Relative Bearing: A Flight Vector specified as a combination of Horizontal & Vertical azimuth/elevation in relation to your ship's attitude. A bearing of 000.0 (read as "Zero-Zero-Zero mark Zero") would be directly in front of you.
  • Absolute Heading: A Flight Vector specified as a combination of Horizontal & Vertical azimuth/elevation relative to the center of the Galaxy. In THIS case, a bearing of 000.0 (read as "Zero-Zero-Zero mark Zero") would put you on a course to the Center Of The Galaxy.
  • Galactic Coordinates: Standard galactic XYZ coordinates are also acceptable as valid input, although most ships' personnel find this cumbersome and only use it for maneuvering inside a Nebula where sensors won't allow standard course plotting using Reaction Control Systems (RCS) thrusters.
