Elite Guard / Honor Guard [Rob]

The original proposal was for an Elite Guard. What it later developed into was the idea of an Honor Guard for the Chapter Level, deveolping into the "Elite Guard" at the MFI level, with the Elite Guard comprising of the "Top Guns" on the lower level Honor Guard members.

Is the Elite Guard idea being scrapped?

Just checking -- <Rob>

To be honest, since it has been a while since it came up, I didn't remember Elite Guard as being firm. I still have to go back thru our HQ mail archives and recover all the thoughts we had then. My outline is something I did fairly soon afterwards and it has been on hold till now. We will consider the name for the Group... If you want to spit ball any other ideas or even join the group, let me know. You always can add proposals here if you'd rather...
Thanks! -- <steve>

Initial Ideas from CD [copied email]

Recommendation

Some overlap with the subbranch SSD any thoughts there?

1-We can call it the MFI Honor Legion (?) or somesuch.

2-ideas for min. requirements:

  • 1 year of continous MFI service with no disciplinary problems.
  • Must have taken the New member, cell command, all 3 convention security courses,
  • [oooh] we could write a course or two just dealing with this new project based on the handbook I am happy to help write
  • Reccomendation to program must come from next highest superior officer
  • And further endorsed by a member of the CC.
  • Final Approval is on a case by case basis by the IC.

Reccomendation Qualifications:

  • First aid and CPR trained
  •  ????

Ideas for the Mission of this group:

  • A quote about the Secret Service, thought we can make this one of the cornerstones, that is Brass protection:

"........., as well as protection of the President, Vice President, their immediate families, other high ranking government officials, past presidents and their spouses, certain candidates for the offices of President and Vice President, and visiting foreign heads of state and government (all called "protectees"). It also investigates a wide variety of financial fraud crimes and identity theft and provides forensics assistance for some local crimes. The Secret Service Uniformed Division assists in the protection of foreign embassies and the White House within Washington, D.C. Due to the necessary discretion of this organization, many details are currently unknown about the Secret Service. In general, the Secret Service has a "no comment" policy on any of its actions or investigations." Another role will be acting as honor guard in a varity of situations, I'm in Civil Air Patrol I can get my hands on drill and ceremonies books and honor guard manuals if you like.

other thoughts for the manual:

  • Mission Statement
  • Roles
  • Special Uniform Items
  • Drill
  • Special information regarding the different honor guard situational types.
  • Honor Legion organizational set up.
  • How and why of local unit activation.

what do you think?
