We've decided not to have separating hulls.

The main bridge and my ready room, I would like to have in the aft portion of deck 2. We can link cameras and sensors to feed data to the view screen on the bridge.

I'd like to have a battle bridge on deck 20 forward below the point where the enginering hull and primary/sphere connect.

You mentioned: "* There appears to be an area on the Upper Aft Primary Hull, between the Impulse Engines where a Docking Port, Transporter Room, Dignitary Reception Area, Secure Ready Room and Special Private Med Hook-Ups (Moving from Outboard to Inboard) could be located." -I'll have to get back to you on tht one.

We are considering increasing our fighter/shuttle compliment to provide pickets or screening for the mother ship. Once the type of fighter is decided, that will allow us to modify our decks accordingly. CDR Shultz suggested putting having the hangar bay open below Deck 20 (our battle bridge). Perhaps we could use 25-26 for fighters...? I 'd like to possibly have an additional hangar opening in case of damage. Perhaps in 25-26 aft?

Memory Beta states we have 4 phaser array forward and aft, and photon torpedo launchers. Are you able to ascertain the location of these systems on the hull? I need at least one launcher going aft.

OK...Hope I have all comments so far straight. I am ref the deck numbering from Olympic-Decks.jpg in these comments.

I tried to find a pre-existing set of deck plans with no luck. I did find someone doing a 3-D wireframe Mesh but he has been working on it for literally YEARS off/on and only has some bits completed. They were impressive though... From that research I have the following observations:

On the diagram we have the [sphere] Main hull and the [aft] Engineering [Eng] hull. We do know that the Main Bridge is on deck 1 and that deck 5 contains transporter rooms and crew quarters.

From my research, the large beige rectangles located all over both hulls are lifeboat/escape pod locations. You could probably assume maybe a dozen of these scattered about could house work bees for ship hull repairs instead.

I believe that both the small white vertical rectangles and the dark ones of the same shape are intended as view ports/windows.

On deck 22 Main there is a band of light blue rectangles and possibly dark ones completing the band 360 degrees. Looking at the diagram, the whole band appears like it might be recessed a few meters into the sphere. Can't be certain because if they are huge window areas we might be looking thru the forward curved sections. I have a number of theorys: [A] They are huge windows which suggests they are intended as an observation, lounge, recreation deck complex. Ten forward on steroids going back to the ships original design as a Hospital/Evacuation ship. [B] They could indicate smaller shuttle ports which may be related to ambulance duty. If so, they would be ideal for your fighter bays. [note I have not checked on verticle scaling issues to see if that might be a problem...] [C] Another issue. Could they be related to some alternate form of the Main Deflectors since there is NO standard dish visible?

On the side of the Eng hull beneath the warp mounting roots at decks 16/17 there is a huge oval that appears to be a bay door. A matching door would be on the port side as well, I think. the area within could be much larger and also encompass other decks for vehicle storage using internal elevators.

The mesh work I mentioned showed details of the Upper part of the Eng hull from the rear. On the forward part of the Eng hull approx decks 12/13 there is a rear opening bay large enough for two shuttles abreast. Internally there was a elevator down below to decks 14/15 where shops and storage was located for more.

Towards the rear of the upper Eng hull at decks 12/13 is that huge bubble area. It is also a rear opening bay, but I believe it can accomodate vessels as large as runabouts. Perhaps 2 to 4. The remaining external areas on deck 13 could serve as landing pads for more shuttles if needed. Again, I haven't done the math but a Ju'day class freighter MIGHT be able to land there.

Around decks 17/18 of the aft Eng hull would be yet another rear opening for shuttles. Perhaps just a small bay.

On the Main hull Rob already mentioned that the impulse engines are located on the upper rear and that another small shuttle bay might be located there. That is reasonable and really make sense to use it as the primary bay to receive dignitaries. Thus having guest quarters, reception areas, conference rooms etc nearby also makes sense. Also consider that areas closest to the center of a deck and especially the center of the sphere would be the most secure from external damage.

At the extreme bottom level of the Main hull which is unmarked but would be deck 26 is probably the location of the captains yacht/gig. For simplicity I would use the diagram of one already designed and available on the net.

See http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Captain%27s_yacht

Greg, do you intend to abandon the existing main bridge on deck 1? Normally there is already a ready room just off of the main bridge. Also turbolifts and possibly even a small transporter pad would probably be there. Deck 2 would be better for a larger briefing room, your special personal clinc, and perhaps the captain quarters.

Somewhere around deck 3 or 4 aft on the Main hull I would place an Aux Shuttle Control to manage the large number of shuttle ops in the vicinity of the ship. Kind of an Air Boss.

Weapons: [per Mem Alpha research] Galaxy class had 12 to 14 phaser arrays and only two torp launchers [one each for and aft]. However each launcher was supposed to be capable of firing 5 torps simutaneously. Rapid fire? Sovereign class had 16+ arrays and ten launchers [4 fore/6 aft]. No mention is made of capacity per launcher. Nova class had 11 arrays and three lauchers [2 fore/1 aft] Olympic class [basic] we show 4 arrays and 3 launchers.

I say that since we are refitting this one as a multi use starship we should [taking the size into account] increase weapons to say: one torp [rapid fire, five per salvo] on the Main hull somewhere maybe deck 11 forward. two torps [rapid fire, five per] on the leading edge of the Eng hull maybe deck 28 and one similar torp on the same deck facing aft. three twin-fire turrets: one on the Eng hull on top of the hangar bubble, one on the Eng hull aft at deck 19, and one on the Main hull at about deck 3 or 4 aft Also increase phaser arrays to between 14 and 18 total, scattered about. The diagram shows some possibilities on the Main hull between decks 4 & 5 and again decks 19 & 20. The area between decks 13 & 14 looks promising as well. On the Eng hull there are features looking promising between decks 14 & 15 across the back and both sides. Common practice is to place two [fore/aft] on each warp nacell or pylon for a total of 4. Should also place at least one array ventrally under the Eng hull.

Three independant computer cores: Two in the sphere [diff locations] and one in the Eng hull. Only one is needed to support all ship systems and operations.

Main engineering I think fits best at the junction of the two hulls, disbursed between decks 11 to 19. At the lower part of deck 19 where the hulls join is best for the warp core jetison hatch. One spare core can be located somewhere in the middle of the Eng hull, possibly stored longitudally.

We still need to solve the deflector problem. As in where is it? Also need to determine if we need a secondary deflector as well.

Main hull decks 14/15/16 look very similar. Could they correspond to staterooms/wards? They are also convieniently close to the evac/lifeboat pods on deck 17. Also decks 11/18/23/24 have very few windows so I wonder what might be housed within.

Ok... My braincell just droped out of my ear... time for enough today...LOL

Think on these things...
