Dedication Plaque

Captains Yacht Plaque

Commissioning
With plans and other pertinent data for the Galaxy class project in hand, the Maquis Coordinator Council determined to build sixteen of the vessels for their own fleet. The Council further decided that the first eight of these vessels would go to well experienced ship Captains, with the next four going to "Rising Stars", young Commanders that showed a great deal of promise. The final four space frames would be prepared for long term storage somewhere in the Badlands, away from prying eyes and would-be thieves. Several ship Captains and combat tested Marine officers were tasked with assisting a group of ship designers in possible modifications for various versions of the Galaxy class. The second of these modified ships (dubbed "Assault carriers") was awarded to then Lieutenant Colonel McBain.

Construction and Dedication
The twelfth vessel was begun on stardate 53727. To be commanded by a young Marine officer named Rigel McBain. With a reputation for aggressive and innovative tactics, McBain was felt to be the best choice for the last of the "Rising Star" ships. McBain, who was told of the Command only 24 hours before the Dedication ceremony was promoted to full Colonel and given the rare opportunity to choose his crew from anywhere in the Naval and Marine branches of the Maquis military. This vessel was Dedicated as the M.F.S. Impetuous with the hull number of 79241 on stardate 54827.

Service Record
In it's short career the M.F.S. Impetuous has seen action all along the Maquis-Cardassian border and along the Federation-Cardassian D.M.Z.
