Edict #4

Introduction

This edict is the Guideline Promotions Policy for the Department. It is an essential tool for all member's and where possible should and will be adhered to.

Section A - Entry Level

It is not necessary to take the Sim Academy however, there are different rank entry stages. Those who complete the Sim Academy Program enter the Mainstream Sim at rank Lieutenant Junior Grade whereas those who enter the Main Stream Sim without graduation from Sim Academy enter at rank Ensign.

Section B - Lieutenant Junior Grade

As a guideline those holding rank Ensign should be promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade on or before 3 Months from date of joining the Division, however this may alter slightly at the discretion of the Commanding Officer.

Section C - Lieutenant

As a guideline those holding rank Lieutenant Junior Grade should be promoted to Lieutenant after 6 Months from time of Last Promotion, however this may alter slightly at the discretion of the Commanding Officer. Lieutenant is also the required level to be eligible for assignment to a Department Head Position.

Section D - Lieutenant Commander

As a guideline those holding rank Lieutenant as well as a Department Head Position should be promoted to Lieutenant Commander after 9 Months from time of last Promotion, however this may alter slightly at the discretion of the Commanding Officer.Lieutenant Commander is also the required rank for assignment to an Executive Officer's Position

Section E - Commander

As a guideline those holding rank Lieutenant Commander as well as an Executive Officer's position should be promoted to Commander after 12 Months from time of last promotion, however this may alter slightly at the discretion of the Commanding Officer.

Section F - Captain

As a guideline the rank of Captain is only given to Commander's who are taking up a Permanent Commanding Officer's Position. To be eligible for a Commanding Officer's position one must have been a member of the division for a minimum of 24 Months from time of promotion to Commander.

Section G - Fleet Captain

Fleet Captain is an honorary rank awarded to Fleet Commander's whilst they are in Office. If the Officer in question holds a rank above Fleet Captain then there is not alteration of rank. Upon leaving office Fleet Captain's revert back to their Original Rank. To be eligible for Fleet Commandancy one must hold a command within the Division.

Section H - Admiralty

Admiralty means any rank Commodore and above.

Admiralty Ranks are awarded sparingly. An Officer is promoted to Commodore if he/she holds a Command and has been a member of the division for 4 or more Years. Officer's are only promoted to Fleet Admiral if they are in Office as the Director. Upon leaving Office he/she would usually be made an Hon. Admiral for their services to the division.
