History

Shortly after the united federation of planets was founded the council proposed a bill to create a new branch of the Marine Corps. this new branch being christened the MEKK Corps. Shortly after this, in 2185 the Starfleet Corps of Engineers unvieled a new weapon system, Battle Armor. This new suit was designed much like a Mekk, and proved devastating when deployed against conventional infantry.

Equipment

The primary function of battle armor is to cover the Marine in a nearly impenetrable shell. This shell is flexible enough to allow surprisingly agile movement, yet rigid enough to withstand heavy weapons fire. Unlike any other form of personal armor, battle armor provides its full protection against all types of weapons, including the massive armaments carried by Mekks. The myomer muscles that power a suit's limbs provide the wearer increased speed and strength as well as acting as a protective armored shell.

Battle armor suits are equipped with a Heads Up Display (HUD) in the faceplate that presents an enhanced view of the battlefield as well as data on the suit's condition, ammunition supply, and the health of the Marine. The HUD also combines the capabilities of rangefinding binoculars and light amplification. The HUD display aids in tracking and targeting.

Battle armor also carries global positioning devices, three dimensional maps, and an extensive communications and sensor array.

All battle armor suits are environmentally sealed, allowing them to operate in a variety of hostile areas. The Marine can choose to breathe filtered outside air, or swich to an internal air supply that lasts for up to twelve hours. Battle armored Marines may enter water, but the suits design does not allow thier wearers to swim along the surface. Battle armored troops entering water will sink, and may move slowly across the bottom of the body of water.

Battle armor suits are equipped with a Life Support Sustaining Unit (LSSU), an advanced medical system that monitors and relays back information on the condition of the wearer, and provides an injured Marine with painkillers and various other drugs, this sensory relay also allows for medical personnel to offer limited medical treatment to an injured Marine and possibly sustain him/her until they can be taken to a medical facility. The LSSU can also monitor and control blood flow at various points in the Marines body, applying pressure in the case of injury so that the Marine can remain conscious and continue to fight.

Anti Personnel Battle Armor

M890 Infiltrator Battle Armor

Development of the suit was a joint project of the Maquis corps. of engineers and Marine recon teams. The Infiltrator was designed as a mass-manufactured battle armor suit for deployment with the MFMC. Unlike previous models, the Infiltrator suit features armor composite sheaths to contain and protect its layers of myomer musculature. The suit also features integral mounts for jump jets and a gyro-stabilized gun mount on the right arm, phasers and machine guns are the most common weapons. As much a psychological weapon as a physical weapon, the Infiltrator has a menacing look and a selection of weapons virtually guaranteed to break the will of any infantry that dares to stand in its path.

M893 Hawk Battle Armor

Inspired by Land Air Mekk (LAM), Hawk battle armor is fully airborne. Though the final production model possesses only limited flight capabillities, it is nonetheless an impressive accomplishment. Named for a predatorial bird, the Hawk achieves flight by means of an advanced propulsion system adapted from standard Mekk jump jets. Computer controls divert portions of the main thrust through dozens of directional exhaust ports to obtain stable flight as well as complete VTOL capability, including a parafoil for high altitude insertions. The result is an incredibly agile unit that is the fastest independant infantry in known space. In order to make the suit light enough for sustained flight, the Hawk's designers had to strip away most of the armor found on heavier Battle armor designs. The suit's weapon load is ight as well, mounting only a single compression pulse phaser rifle as its main armament, backed up with an anti-matter bomblet rack attached to the suit's jump pack. While the Hawk is equipped with two manipulative hands, one is used to carry the Troops phaser rifle.

Anti Mekk Battle Armor

M895 Sehlat Anti Mekk Battle Armor

Another development of the joint project between the MFMC and Maquis corps. of engineers, designed to incease survivability of Anti Mekk infantry. Using the latest techniques in small-scale armor design, the Sehlat mounts enough armor to withstand a direct hit from most Mekk weapons. The Sehlat is an impressive design, mating a heavy powered-armor suit with myomer musculature. The Sehlat has a fully articulated claw mounted on the left arm, used primarily during "swarm" attacks against enemy Mekks . The suits primary weapon is a heavy phaser, when used in cooperation with the Marines team-mates, has the capability to burn through the armor of Mekks as well as tanks.

Deployment and Tactics

Deployed in four-man teams, the versatility of the suits offer nearly limitless tactical applications. One primary role of the anti personnel suits is that of urban operations, the small size of the Hawk and Devastator suits simplify manuevering around built-up areas. Devastator suits are also well suited for "boarding" operations.

Anti Mekk suits are typically deployed on the fringes of large Mekk formations, or engagement zones to screen enemy Anti-Mekk infantry, and to perform Anti-Mekk operations themselves. One very common tactic, team leaders will use the "lay of the land" to conceal their suited troops until the last moment, then springing out and swarming an enemy Mekk.
