Types of Navigation

Image:Navigation1.jpg Image:XYZ Coordinates.jpg

  • Relative Bearing: A Flight Vector specified as a combination of Horizontal & Vertical azimuth/elevation coordinates in relation to your ship's attitude. A bearing of 000.0 (read as "Zero-Zero-Zero mark Zero") would be directly in front of your ship.
  • Absolute Heading: A Flight Vector specified as a combination of Horizontal & Vertical azimuth/elevation coordinates relative to the center of the Galaxy. In THIS case, a bearing of 000.0 (read as "Zero-Zero-Zero mark Zero") would mean your ship is on a course to the Center Of The Galaxy.
  • Galactic Coordinates: Standard galactic XYZ coordinates are also acceptable as valid navigational input, although most ship's personnel find this cumbersome and only use it for maneuvering inside a Nebula where sensors won't allow standard course plotting, or inside confined Spaces (such as a Space Dock), while using Reaction Control Systems (RCS) thrusters. (See Reaction Control Systems)
