Liam,

For the GS ribbon, what about using a gold lamp device (ROTC/JROTC)?

--FCOL RTorres

yep, that one OR the little sabres from www.paradestore.com. Basically, any custom ribbon device is available to us. If we have to go to New Moon for something custom, that's what we gotta do. -L

Liam,

Aren't Brigades traditionally one unit level higher than Regiments? Is that being switched in MFMC, or am I reading this wrong?

--FCPT Ferber

Nope, it's always been this way in MFMC...Brigade numbers now match their Home Zone numbers, and that might be part of the confusion. They didn't, in the past, but, like before Battalions designate a grouping of MFMC Cells within a geo-physical locale (State, country or province), Brigades are grouping of local Battalions, all within the same MFI Zone and all we did was re-name Divisions as Regiments, being an adminstrative groupings of Brigades (Zones) solely fr reporting purposes. The original Regimental Combat Team (RCT) idea you may be remembering was a bust and never really fit into MFMC on an administrative level, and hence it's gone bye-bye.

The original MFMC model literally had MFMC units and sub-units spread between two or more MFI Zones, and had a seperate reporting system for no real good reason, so that original error was corrected this time around. Although the USMC/US Army models use different nomenclature, SOME things have to change when applying their systems to fandom. There's no sense in mandating a system/function unless there's an actual need for that function/system. Basically, as the MFMC General Staff decided years ago, there's no need to have a seperate entity JUST to have a seperate entity. MFMC is a part of MFI first and foremost, and ignoring the MFI Zones never made any sense. Consider it like the US Military, as a Zone Commander, you're like a Theatre Commander, and may have Navy, AirForce, Army and Marine units under your command, even though you're a Wingwiper yourself.

Also, we were a little tired of folks who'd beg for a so-and-so OIC slot, only to never do a thing beyond send in a yearly report. OICs now have clearer expectations when they accept the postings, and believe me, they're gonna be held With this system, Brigade Officer-In-Charge duties are to basically get to know their subordinate Battalion OICs and liasion to/assist the Zone Commander as the ZC sees fit regarding MFI/MFMC matters. Battalion OICs really just have their home cell duties, and the duty to work with other cells in their locales, and Regimental OICs really just help the MFMC General Staff run herd on the ....err... Herd. Hopefully, the new stuff will help you ZC guys out with integrating MFMC units as a functionl part of your Zones.
