Originally, I did not worry about being associated with a ship.  I first joined MFI in 1997 as the initial Dean of Computer Science [CompSci], serving under Admiral Tom Donohoe in the "brand new" MFI Academy.  His flagship was MFS Stonehenge.  I guess I loosely qualified as crew under Tom.  For years my only home has been [[MFI Academy]].  I have happily served in the background of every Commandant thus far.

MFS Compliance [MFI-RC-112088] "The Wackiest Ship in the Borgy"

...well

Design Considerations:

Originally, I did not worry about being associated with a ship. I first joined MFI in 1997 as the initial Dean of Computer Science [CompSci], serving under Admiral Tom Donohoe in the "brand new" MFI Academy. His flagship was MFS Stonehenge. I guess I loosely qualified as crew under Tom. For years my only home has been MFI Academy. I have happily served in the background under every Commandant thus far.

Recently, I found the need to have access to a ship of my own to carry my "flag". A Borg ship was the obvious first choice.

...actually I have spent quite a bit of time contemplating what ship type best fits into my needs and background. Available resources for the "Borg Scout" [ie: Hugh Borg era] are quite vague, limited, and contradictory. Decent graphics are difficult if not impossible to find. The few images don't really seem to fit the Borg theme of basic geometric shapes. Even the data doesn't quite jive in that the metric tonage appears far excessive for a ship of the limited crew size and small "footprint" displayed in actual film/broadcast series historical footage.

After pondering and searching I finally discovered the perfect design. While searching the net I located a SciFi fan site { SadGeezer } with images representing many various genre themes. Several excellant graphic views of Dune "Heighliner" ships were located which fit perfectly with the Borg theme. I christened this new class the "Borg Long Range Scout" class. The Borg version of this design is scaled substantially smaller than the original Dune version, but the overall "look" remains perfect. My fullest "Bravo Zulu" goes out to the original Dune designer for this one. Excellant work!
