AEROSPACE SQUADRONS
Attack squadrons (designated VMA) do light bombing missions in addition to air superiority
VMFA are dual role squadrons that fly aircraft like the F/A18-E Super Hornet
VMA squadrons traditionally fly aircraft like the A-6E intruder
VMF squadrons traditionally fly aircraft like the F-4E Phantom II
If you rop the M from the designator, it becomes a naval rather than marine squadron
V=fixed wing
M=Marine
A=Attack
F= Fighter
G= Variable Geometry i.e. Veritech Squadrons (Ex. GMA would be a Marine Veritech Attack Sqdrn)
