BTW- [correction] Unless sonobuoys changed, there is nothing "inflatable" on the surface.  The buoy itself floats until either a timed water soluble plug disolves or a scuttle command to sent to sink it sooner.  The hydrophone/instrument array deploys from the base of the buoy on a cable unbilical.

Also, they don't deploy in canisters per se, they ARE cylindrical in shape.  There is no 'shell' shed on impact.
