Hey what's the big idea ?
The Crossed Sabres are the exclusive insignia of the Marine MEKK Branch.
Is there something else you could use ?

Uhhhh...
The insignia says: "The SOC RECON WINGS will be awarded upon successfully passing the SOC LAM MEKK Course, SOC 202."... Shouldn't all MEKK be the same? Speaking strictly as a quartermaster, the idea of two different insignias to denote the same accmplishment (MEKK) for two different branches would seem a little redundant. We have the same wings for all branches, so the crossed sabers to denote MEKK accomplishment sounds logical. Am I off base here?

I'd have to agree. Speaking as the former Awards Division Director, it is something I would have suggested to help denote the overlap. I don't kow what Barb's opinion on it would be as this has yet to come through Awards. As is until it is submitted, such wings won't be shown on the Hall, where as all the Marine MEKK awards have gone through there and are Hall Approved.

I made an oops somewhat, I would have apprciated being in the know on this, as the MEKK Program was initiated by me, and I currently act as an advisor to the MEKK Program. Cary Griffen, or myself wouldn't mind liasoning with SOC on future developements with the MEKK Program and would be happy to do so.

Hey now you know how Barb and I feel when people start deciding what awards they want to offer and design without consulting us (me in the past and her currently). As is I think if and when they do submit it, there might be slight changes. The wings should be made to match the other wings used by MFI
