In the book, Star Trek Dreadnought, by Diane Carey, the Dreadnought Class ship was built under the direction of Vice Admiral Rittenhouse to accomplish a military coup of the Federation. However the Star Empire MKC 2331 was commandeered prior to its maiden voyage. Due to the efforts of the commandeering crew and the Enterprise, ADM Rittenhouse was stopped before such a coup could take place. The Dreadnought Class, Star Empire, was immediately consigned to oblivion. It is this ship that we claim as the Maqui Ship, Dark Night.
