The explosions from the light MEKKS weapons pursuing the SEALS could be heard over the comm system as the Maquis forces started their general retreat.

“This is Roadrunner primary extraction site has been compromised we are taking heavy fire and are heading to secondary extraction point be advised we are coming in VERY HOT.”

The remaining SEALS began a fighting retreat laying down cover as they tried to evade the enemy forces that ambushed them at the primary extraction site, the already bloodied SEALS were taking on more and more casualties making the retreat really slow. Col Pugh pulled out a data pad containing a map of the area ignoring the battle that was going on around him he scanned the map to find somewhere safe to go as it was clear they were not going to make it to the extraction point. Col Pugh noticed that just a few hundred meters to the east was a farm at the bottom of the valley, even though moving there would give the enemy the high ground the buildings would provide cover and the area was perfect for the shuttles to land.

“This is Roadrunner secondary extraction is cut off proceeding to alternate site at grid 0011245.6” Col Pugh than sent the data to the squad leaders Combat masks along with this orders. The SEALS understood the plan and shifted the retreat to the east. One thing was for certain that MEKK had to go it would be to dangerous giving it the vantage of the high ground.

“Maj Russell I want you to take out that MEKK or we are all dead”
The Major looked to the Col and nodded he quickly turned and head to the right flank to get a better angle on the MEKK he managed to get to his position unnoticed by the pursuing enemy, Major Russell took out a large rifle, it was nicknamed the widow maker he took aim at the MEKK’s cockpit.

The MEKK pilot scanned the battle trying to hit the escaping SEALS however it proved harder than it looked not only were the SEALS efficient in evading his weapon fire they would also fire a barrage of phaser fire at him. His MEKK was undamaged but the multiple blasts caused his targeting computers to get confused and miss their mark not to mention it was annoying. It was just after a volley of phaser fire hit his cockpit that the pilot noticed a glare in the distance, but before he could register what it was, a large phaser bolt smashed through the cockpit and struck him in the left shoulder. The MEKK’s alarms went off the area in side the cockpit became a dance of red flashing lights and noises, as the computer tried to warn the pilot that something really bad had just happened. The pilot tried to bring the left arm to bear on the sniper but it would not move it took another second for the pilot to realise that his arm was no longer attached to his shoulder. The pain had not settled when the pilot noticed another bolt coming towards him he tried to shield him self with the right arm of the MEKK but it was too late and the bolt slammed into his chest killing him instantly. From the momentum of the right arm the MEKK lost its balance and toppled to the ground among the cheers of the retreating SEALS.

Major Russell then proceeded to lay down some covering fire before rejoining the retreat taking a few of the stunned mercenaries that looked to the disabled MEKK in disbelief. The SEALS made it to the edge of the valley and could see the far stead down below; Col Pugh came over the comms.

“Get the wounded into the building and form a defensive perimeter”
“This is Roadrunner we have established perimeter need ETA for extraction”
“Roadrunner we are having some trouble with logistics all shuttles are full, we estimate 5 to 10 minutes till extraction copy.”
“5 to 10? We will be dead in 3, we need extraction now”
“Copy Roadrunner we will do what we can just hold tight”

Col Pugh slammed his fist against the side of the farm house that was now being used as a casualty collection site the medics working frantically to keep the injured alive. Col Pugh looked to the medic who gave him thumbs up allowing Col Pugh to return to the battle at hand. Col Pugh began to sprint across the open field evading several phaser bolts from the enemy that had massed on the ridge of the valley and were begging to advance on the embedded SEALS. Col Pugh again came over the comms.

“We got to hold out make every shot count, and make them pay for every step they take”

The battle raged on for what seemed a life time the mercenaries were hard pressed with their advance as they were meet with the precision fire of the SEALS but it would only be a matter of time before they would overwhelm the SEALS. By now the SEALS have formed a perimeter in and outside the farm house those wounded but still could fight had weapons and ammo was almost out. Maj Russell was on the roof doing what he could but had run out of ammo for the widow maker and was using his side arm. Col Pugh distributed the reaming ammo to those who could fight but no matter what he could not prevent the in inevitable they would either be killed or taken prisoner but one thing for sure is that there was too many enemy forces for an extraction, it would only put more people in needless risk and harm.

“This is Roadrunner we are done area is too hot repeat too hot for extraction. Get out while you can”

The mercenary commander looked down on the farm house where the SEALS had put up one hell of a fight, no matter how angry he was at them he could not help admire their determination. It would only be a matter of time before they would be defeated and he would take pleasure in dealing with that sniper that insulted him with the ease in witch he took out his MEKK. He called over the comms and started to coordinate the final push with his squad commanders when heavy phaser and photon torpedoes started to rain from the sky and decimate his troops.

The two gun ships came in guns a blazing vaporizing the mercenary forces closest to the farm house. Col Pugh looked out side with amazement as the runabouts started to unleash their weapons. The gunships cleared the immediate area and started to pound the valley ridge swooping in and out evading the small arms fire of the mercenary forces now in retreat. Explosions went up the hill in pursuit of the mercenaries that now have become the hunted. Trees shattered and the earth erupted in rock and soil and the SEALS breathed a sigh of relief.

Medical shuttles began to come in site and land behind the farm house corpsmen began to run to the farm house and extract the wounded. A platoon of Marines relived the roaming SEALS and covered their retreat to the assault shuttles. It took 2 minutes to get the wounded and dead off and another 30 seconds to get the survivors, the shuttles began to lift off and join the retreating fleet. It was this time when the fleet wide communication came in about Major General McBain being captured by the enemy.

Col Pugh went to the communications officer and ordered a channel to fleet command. The F/Col on the other side of the view screen simply looked at Col Pugh and said “No” Col Pugh was a little shocked and replied “You don’t know what I was going to say.” The officer frowned “Yes we do, trust me you are not the only one to call; you cannot go after the general, besides your team is out of commission.” Col Pugh simply replied “Who said anything about my team; they are going home. I am going after the General. “Like hell you-” Col Pugh looked to the communications officer “Looks like he got cut off, I think he approved.” Before the young officer could say anything Col Pugh was in the troop bay collecting ammo and supplies from the Marines and SEALS. Col Pugh grabbed a Chute and opened the bay door the pilot had trouble with the sudden change in pressure but as he turned to see what had happened Col Pugh looked back smiled and then jumped.
