Begin brief by Tetsuhara, Alan...........

Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen, I am Force Colonel Alan Tetsuhara, Chief of Operations Special Operations Command. I'm here to brief you on the Orion situation.

There isn't alot of time, so I'll get right to it.

After the attack on the Maquis Colony of Tracken II by an Orion force and the subsequent investigation by SSD, the SOC was tasked with gathering further intelligence on the matter. Our operatives have learned that the initial estimates of enemy strength are considerably off.

It has been determined that the attacks on Maquis vessels and colonies have been carried out by the Orion "Traidy" Syndicate. The Traidy syndicate is relatively new to the scene. Records show them operating for only about the last 10 years, which makes them very young as far as Orion syndicates go.
This tells us a few things. First off, they're new and trying to make a name for themselves which in and of itself makes them dangerous. They have a fleet of about 20 ships, most of which are slave ships. That gives us alot to try and watch for. One of the plus's for us is that, they don't normally use cloaking devices. Which will make them easier to find and track down.

To make matters more precarious, the Orions have aligned themselves with a Cardassian military commander who has gone off the sensors, so to speak. We have determined that the Traidy syndicate has been given a base of operations on the planet Goralis IV, just inside the Cardassian border and are being protected by the 27th Cardassian Guards.

The 27th is based on the nearby world of Atbar VI, very near Goralis IV. Both worlds are less then 2 light years apart, which gives the Cardassians a very quick response time.

The 27th Guards are commanded by Gul Trepar Lor. he's approximately fifty five years of age, that's Terran standard by the way. Gul Lor has a history of operating without the knowledge of Central Command or anyone else for that matter. Profiteering, theft, kidnapping and murder are all things he has been questioned about in the past. He's always been able to avoid repercussions for his actions.

Now, the 27th Guards are one of the units that were stationed on Bajor during the occupation. They have a very long list of suspected war crimes. Some of you may even remember during the Dominion war. Cardassian forces were in the Badlands, hunting us down. The 27th was one of those units.
We're certain that Trepar Lor had alot to do with the crimes committed on Bajor, even the Bajoran Security Secretariat had alot to say about him and his actions.

In closing, SOC feels that there is a very strong possibility that Lor is using the Orions to weaken the defenses of the Maquis along the Cardassian frontier as a possible prelude to attack on Maquis space.
