<div align="left"><font size=2><nowiki>MFI was approched earlier this year by the Sales Manager for the Executive West Hotel in Louisville, KY about possibly holding an event.  MFI has never undertaken such an endeavor, so at first we treated this offer incredulously. However, after going to visit the resort last month, looking over their facilities, crunching some numbers, it does look as if something of this nature COULD be done by members of MFI. Below you wil find the initial material that FADM (Ret) Gary Davis and FADM Rob Johnson have been mulling over.  It is presented to a select few until such time as we work out as many bugs as possible and disseminate for planning and implementation.</nowiki><br><Br>

What we are thinking of is roughly a convention in the March or early April 2007 timeframe. <font color=red>[UPDATE: planned date has been pushed back for further development]</font color> This woudld give us plenty of time to plan, gauge responses within MFI as well as with other clubs/organizations in the area, line up vendors, as well as meet schedules for everyone concerned including the guest stars themselves.<br><br>

3) Hunt Valley, MD. <sound of tires screeching> WHERE you ask. Every year a great fan run convention called Shore Leave comes to that town and have been doing so for 31 years. Shore Leave 32 is coming up in 2010 and we could be a part of it. We can't afford to pay even one Star Trek star to come out to our event. If we hold it at Shore Leave, we can have our cake and eat it to. We can enjoy our own event and activities, and then walk across the street and see the stars over at Shore Leave and enjoy their programming. Either way, this is a win win.

Maquis Con Agenda

MFI has been dreaming and debating a meeting of the organization which we could all FINALLY meet one another. We'd hope that we could get the entire Coordinator Council, Advisor's Council, Zone Coordinators, Chapter Chairpersons, and as many general members possible in ONE location for the first time. While the concept is daunting to say the least, it is possible if ONE factor holds true, that the MEMBERSHIP would like to attend. We can throw a party, but we need folks to come.

To that end, we are gathering information, hotel bids, and looking at budgets to not only provide you with a first rate convention experience, but to do so affordably and responsibly. So far we have three ideas on the table.

1) Our original Louisville, KY hotel. They have been since renamed the "Crown Plaza" and have done a few million dollars in renovations since 2004. They are also still VERY interested in hosting our premiere event and hope to entice us back annually.

2) Washington DC. Most of us know that the original filming model for the original series is housed at the Smithsonian Air Space Museum, what a place to hold a meeting, and to make it over there and lay eyes on the model that started it all!
