The 544th deployed via transporter and drop shuttles to the surface of Atbar VI at "H" plus 17 minutes. Three landing zones were chosen for the unit to make its landing, LZ Omaha, LZ Flash, and LZ Highpoint.
The first wave of shuttles were "Feet Dry" at "H" plus 27 minutes.
2158th Rifle Co. handled LZ Highpoint. Highpoint was setup on a bluff between several installations of the 27th Guards. after the perimeter was set, the 1829th Artillery was beamed down and quickly set up their guns and mortar.
1263rd Rifle Co. secured LZ Omaha and handled initial defense.
resistance was very heavy moments after the first squads beamed in due to the 2nd Battalion of the 115th Infantry being on maneuvers in the area at the opening moments of the battle.
The Unit CO, FCOL McBain had taken command of the 1263rd for this mission but was seriously wounded in an exchange of fire with enemy troops and had to be evacuated.
3131st Battle Armor was soon called in to reinforce the 1263rd.
1820th Rifle Co. handled security for LZ Flash.
