+ | A small town had been established near the facility to house family of the top officers. They had brought their children there unaware that it was soon to become a battleground. Mortars exploded around the area as the people ran for the shelter of the larger buildings. A woman ran for one of the homes and entered it just as a mortar hit it. There was nothing left but rubble.

| ||

+ | There was another round of mortar fire and he was thrown up in the air to land several feet away dead. This was when the Klingon and Federation ship’s opened fire on the Gorn positions quickly reducing their numbers. Riker sent a message to the Gorn commander Slessshh and the order to stand down was presented. Slessshh had other ideas and it was agreed on that he and Data would meet to settle the dispute. Data defeated Slessshh in hand-to-hand combat where Slessshh accepts the proposition that joining forces with the Federation will make the Gorn stronger.

| ||
+ | Qyrll wanted revenge for the deaths of those Klingons who had been killed on the facility. Riker was able to settle it between him and Slessshh to the mutual agreement of both. Riker and Data helped the Klingons search the rubble for survivors. Qyrll went to the home that had first been bombed. Inside he found the body of the female and a boy no older than 10 who was huddled under a partially collapsed wall. He offered the boy his hand and the young child crawled out and stood before him with his mother’s dak’tag in his hand. Qyrll grinned slightly and nodded his head in approval and led the boy outside where he saw the boy’s father laying dead on the ground a few yards from their door.

| ||

He turned to the boy and placed a sash on him as he lit their candles. "SoS jIH batlh SoH" He said as he recalled the death of both of his parents at Khitomer. The boy repeated the words honoring his parents as well. They then both lit the main candle. At that moment, they became one in Qyrll’s House.

| ||

Culture Basics FOR HONOR & GLORY by Barbara M. Paul With the Dominion War raging and resources running low, the USS Enterprise is sent to negotiate for aid and assistance from the Gorns, but they have problems of their own. An internal power struggle threatened the stability of the Empire. As Commander Riker was in the midst of negotiations with Klingon Commander Qyrll and his crew of the IKS Gar'Tuhk to reinforce the defensive base on Elkauron II, a group of warriors called the Black Crest, led by Warlord Slessshh lead an attack on the base and on Cestus III. “YoD! (Shields)” Qyrll barked firmly to the operator at the facility on Elkauron II.

A Klingon portraying the mythical --- Fek'lhr's face figure of Molor, on Maranga IV “It was long ago when the tyrant Molor ruled the Klingon homeworld with an Iron Fist. Many feared him but qeylIS knew in his heart his rule had to end for the sake of the people and the future of the Klingon race so he went into the
Mountains, all the way to the Kri'stak Volcano. There he took some of his hair and thrust it into the molten rock which poured out from the volcano. His hair began to burn and he cast it into the lake of Lusor, and then twisted it into a sword. With the Sword, qeylIS slew Molor, conquered the Fek'lhr, and forged the first Empire. Kahless would also use the Sword to skin the serpent of Xol, to harvest his father's field, and to carve a statue for his beloved Lukara. We celebrate this great victory every year with the Kot'baval Festival.” He said as he began to sing an old Klingon Drinking song. And the blood was ankle deep. “But it didn’t end there young warriors. QeylIS took the Lady Lukara as his mate and shortly after they were joined, five hundred warriors stormed the Great Hall at Qam-Chee and nearly killed them both but the great QeylIS and his mate stood their ground and defeated Molor’s troops, thus beginning the greatest romance in Klingon history. The wielding of Ma'Staka's, used to re-enact Kahless' and Lukara's battle at Qam-Chee, at the conclusion of a Klingon wedding is a continued tradition in our culture today. It is said that no one can stand against two Klingon hearts. "With fire and steel did the gods forge the Klingon heart. So fiercely did it beat, so loud was the sound, that the gods cried out, 'On this day we have brought forth the strongest heart in all the heavens. None can stand before it without trembling at its strength.' But then the Klingon heart weakened, its steady rhythm faltered and the gods said, 'Why do you weaken so? We have made you the strongest in all of creation.' Sources
